Take the Weardale walk from Chartwell to Emmetts Garden to work up your appetite. When you arrive, unroll your picnic fixings in the vast meadow from one of the tallest places in Kent. Take in the views of Ide Hill with its village accoutrements and buildings.

Remember to pack for the changing weather with sun protection, sunglasses, wet weather clothes, a light jacket, plenty of water and muck boots. You’d much rather be prepared for the conditions than caught out. Also, it’s a good idea to carry some cash on you as many of the little kiosks at places like these will not have card readers.
